Cripplegate Park, Worcester, Worcestershire

It’s always nice when you’re spending the day in the city to take a little time out in an open space with lots of greenery and a certain calm. Cripplegate Park is such place a short stroll from the centre of Worcester, typical of a traditional municipal park, with formal flower beds, mature shrubs and trees and wide lawns. There’s a play area with tennis courts, a bowling green and an obstacle course and zip wire where children can let off steam.

Where does the name come from? No-one knows for sure, but it's thought to originate from the Anglo-Saxon crepel, meaning a covered or underground passageway.
