The House
Go through the door to the utility room; in the corner stairs lead to the snug/TV room, a place to escape for a quiet read or to catch up on your favourite soap.
Step up to the kitchen, a large and well-equipped room with comfy seating to one end. Go through to the dining room, with a galleried landing up above; to one end French doors open onto the garden, in the middle there’s a long dining table – a very manorial setting for any celebration feast!
A long hallway with oak panelled walls and flagstone floors runs almost the whole length of Dovesway; an enormous front door (over 400 years old!) opens to a porch where built-in benches offer a place to sit, out of the hot summer sun. This house is so quirky, nothing is entirely uniform, the walls and floors are slightly askew, and there are charming historic features - leaded windows, centuries old timbers and huge roof trusses, all adding to the charm.
At the end of the hall is the living room where a large window gives an outlook over the tree lined garden. To the left is the games room with a traditional slate bed snooker table.
Bedrooms 1-4 are on the first floor; Bedrooms 1 and 2 both sleep 4, Bedroom 3 sleeps 2 and Bedroom 4 is a suite that also sleeps 4. These beds are all zip and link (super king or twin). On the second floor, Bedrooms 5 and 6 are both twin rooms.
At the back of the house there’s a terrace with outdoor furniture and a hot tub, leading onto a large lawn and a wooded area; to the side there are views across the fields and of the historic dovecote, in the wider grounds there’s a pond and paddock.
