Huxhay - Somerset

Huxhay was built as a hunting lodge way back in Edwardian times. Spin forward to today and after a very considered renovation it’s a luxury holiday house that sleeps 23 over the main house and a self-contained 2 bedroom lodge. The setting, on the edge of the little market town of Dulverton within Exmoor National Park, is peaceful here and the views are glorious.

Interiors are sumptuous and stylish, a gorgeous blend of traditional and modern; if you like lovely rooms, you’ll love this. Outside the grounds are immense; a huge terrace wraps around the front and sides of the house, steps lead down to sweeping lawns and an outdoor dining area with a barbecue and pizza oven. The icing on the cake is a big hot tub to soak in, cotton wool clouds above you by day, star spangled skies at night.

With Exmoor on the doorstep there’s so much to see and do; explore lush river valleys, wooded hillsides and heather-clad heaths where wild ponies roam free. Within an easy drive there are family attractions, historic houses, activities, country pubs and tea rooms waiting to be discovered; beaches aren’t far for days by the sea. Getting here is no trouble with the Tiverton Parkway interchange of the M5 only 30 minutes away, and trains arriving at Tiverton from London Paddington throughout the day.
