Shires - Devon

It's like a different world when you turn off the main road and head down the lane to Shires; this is where your holiday begins, with the quiet country lanes and staggering views of the East Devon countryside across the beautiful Yarty Valley. Down you go, right down to the bottom of the hill where Shires is tucked away next to a 15th century thatched farmhouse.

Shires used to be the wagon shed and milking parlour on a busy dairy farm but now it’s a swish and contemporary large group holiday house sleeping 12 people in 6 bedrooms with room for 2 extra guest beds (extra charge - see Extras). What sets this house apart is how much consideration has gone into making it access friendly; the ground floor is open plan with level flooring to allow for wheelchair use and there are two downstairs bedrooms, one with a fully equipped ensuite wet room, the other geared up for caregivers with a built-in intercom. An elevating bed and hoists for the bedroom and hot tub are available, and there’s a lift up to the south facing sun terrace on the first floor.

Outside there’s a huge garden with a play area and BBQ lodge, inside there’s a games room, movie room, and a spa hall with a pool, hot tub and sauna - so plenty to keep all ages smiling.

There’s a lot to see and do in this area, with family attractions, activities and the beaches of the Jurassic Coast within a short drive. The A30 and the A303 are just minutes away and the M5 is easily reached. This is where memories are waiting to be made.
